Baseball Team Purchases Renewable Energy Certificates

The St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Tampa Bay Rays and the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) have joined forces to support renewable energy use through the purchase of 646 BEF renewable energy certificates, or Green Tags, generated from wind energy.

‘It's important to us and to our fans that we are good stewards of the environment, particularly while enjoying an activity as great as our national pastime,’ says Brian Auld, Rays senior vice president. ‘We selected BEF as our partner because it is the only nonprofit organization in the country that uses the proceeds of its Green Tags to support new, renewable energy projects. For us, that's a home run.’
