Avantair Offsets Carbon Emissions With TerraPass Agreement

Avantair Inc., a fractional aircraft provider headquartered in Clearwater, Fla., has partnered with TerraPass, a San Francisco-based clean-energy and carbon-offset company, to begin offsetting carbon emissions from the use of its aircraft.

Flight TerraPasses, which Avantair has purchased for owners of its airplanes, are structured specifically to offset the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by an aircraft, Avantair says, adding that its P.180 model is the most efficient of all fractional aircraft, with a fuel burn of about 98 gallons per hour.

With the funds from its TerraPasses, TerraPass makes purchases in three classes of energy projects: wind energy, biomass and industrial efficiency, the company adds.
