Areva and developer Windreich GmbH have signed an extensive cooperation contract for the use of about 130 Areva M5000-135 turbines at two future offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

The 5 MW M5000-135 turbines are a further development of the M5000-116, offering a larger rotor diameter and up to 10% higher performance, the companies say. Windreich expects the two offshore wind projects, Baltic Eagle and Baltic Ostseeschatz, to soon be approved by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency.
