Burns & McDonnell-Canada says it has been awarded a five-year contract by AltaLink LP to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a range of high-voltage transmission line and substation projects throughout the province of Alberta.
The transmission projects will be determined based on need assessments and permitting approvals. Though the project list may be modified, some of these projects are expected to assist in integrating new wind power generation onto the provincial power grid.
The contract includes a five-year option for additional project support following the conclusion of the initial five-year contract in 2017.
Burns & McDonnell-Canada will work with provincial and Canadian suppliers and contractors on various projects as they are pre-qualified based on qualifications, safety and quality performance.
Headquartered in Calgary, AltaLink owns and operates the electrical transmission system serving approximately 85% of the residents of Alberta.
