Wind turbine manufacturer Alstom has upgraded its 3 MW onshore ECO 100 platform, which was originally designed for medium- and high-wind sites, to also be appropriate for use at low-wind sites.

According to Alstom, the upgrade increases the turbine's net capacity factor by up to 48%. The ECO 100 turbine comes with a rotor diameter of either 100, 110 or 122 meters, thus allowing developers to select the best rotor location for each specific site, Alstom notes.Â
