Alstom has won a contract to supply and supervise the installation and commissioning of 29 turbines for Green Power Hamada Corp. in Japan. The 48 MW wind farm is estimated to be fully operational in 2016.
Each 1.67 MW ECO 74 wind turbine features 70-meter towers and will be equipped with the Alstom Pure Torque design, which the company says shifts bending loads directly to the tower and allows for higher reliability of the drivetrain. Alstom adds that it has adapted its turbine with seismic towers to improve availability in view of Japan's seismic activity.
Once this new contract for wind turbine delivery is completed, Alstom says it will have provided 100 MW of installed wind power capacity in Japan.
