GE Renewable Energy and French independent power producer Akuo Energy have completed financing and kicked off construction of the 150 Rocksprings Wind Farm in Texas.

Akuo Energy will purchase 53 2.3 MW GE turbines with 116-meter-diameter rotors and 16 1.72 MW GE turbines with 103-meter-diameter rotors.

In addition to supplying the turbines, GE will supervise the project’s operational and maintenance aspects under a long-term service contract. GE, through GE Energy Financial Services, also provided tax equity financing for the project.

Kevin Walsh, managing director and head of U.S. renewables at GE Energy Financial Services, notes that the project is the company’s second U.S. wind farm with Akuo.
