Chicago-based Airtricity North America has agreed to purchase an additional 197 1 MW wind turbines from Mitsubishi Power Systems. The turbines will be supplied in 2008 and 2009 for projects in Texas, Colorado and New Mexico, the companies say. The new contract follows Airtricity's 2006 purchase of 209 MW of Mitsubishi wind turbines.
‘We are delighted to have concluded our second turbine supply agreement with MPS,’ says Declan Flanaga, Airtricity North America's chief executive officer. ‘The 1 MW machine is a robust and dependable machine and performs excellently in the high-wind-speed areas of Texas.’
