ACCIONA Windpower has entered the Brazilian wind energy market by securing a contract for a wind farm in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in the country.

ACCIONA will supply, install and maintain 40 3 MW wind turbines for the 120 MW Atlantica wind farm, which is owned by CPFL Renovaveis, a subsidiary of Brazilian utility CPFL Group. The contract covers the supply and field installation of the turbines, as well as the operation and maintenance of the wind park for a period of 15 years.

In addition, ACCIONA plans to construct a wind power component assembly plant in Brazil.
