Acciona Breaks Ground For Iowa Wind Turbine Plant

Acciona Windpower, a subsidiary of Acciona Energy, has broken ground for its wind turbine production plant in West Branch, Iowa.

At the end of April, Acciona announced plans to build the facility. (See ‘Acciona Builds Wind Turbine Production Plant In Iowa.’) According to the company, the new plant, which will measure over 200,000 square feet, is on schedule for completion by the end of the year.

The facility is being developed by Ryan Companies U.S. Inc. and will produce 250 wind turbines in 2008, with plans to increase to 400 turbines per year in the future, Acciona says. The produce its AWP 1.5-77 models.
